Tamaug's War

It was inevitable I had to start writing. This feels like that escape from what's happening. Like when I used to do drugs. They would take me away. I wish times were that simple now.
Since I'm new to this I wanna tell you from before the war started.
I was a Systems Administrator at Accenture here at Pune for four years. On a normal Wednesday afternoon, the news reports show how Russia, allied with China and other few countries invaded USA and the UK. It was out of this world. You are sitting there thinking it's just one of those other days where you update the server patch and get coffee oggling at Samantha from HR. I was done with the paperwork for the day and had planned to go get some beer when the live video of a C-130 dropping what could've been some supersonic missiles on Washington. It was chaos.
Everyone went home and the entire country was on lockdown. I had a few connections back in that world and Intel was that the alliance now calling itself the Society was backing Pakistan and there was going to be an invasion. Two days later bombs dropped.
I remember Mary and Suresh hugging each other in the van as I drove past the bullets, explosions and death.
I remember the entire twenty minute drive like it is being played in a tiny projector which is streaming it on my retina. The clarity of the incident to me scares me. I was thinking how my life had changed as the gunshots echoed in the background. In the moment it was so terrifying yet I was pumped to know how I would do. Yes, I felt it was a test. An unruly way of the nature to see who was worthy to live in this world we take for granted. The gift of humanity was not a gift anymore the nature was telling me. It was time to pay for the subscription.
I had turned to MG road in time to find the 29th Artillery Unit covering my retreat into their area.
The mall was their forward operating base.
It's been three months and we have still managed to keep the base running.
I enrolled and go on supply runs now.
Today, 14th March is special because it was my Pops bday. It's a good thing my parents died before the shit hit the fan.
I write today because I felt like I had the duty to keep the story alive. That a hundred years from now they know Lieutenant Tamaug Chauhan was, even though a very small one, a part of the Great War.
The supply truck is set. I forgot to mention earlier that my job is to hack into Public Networks to gain any kind of information on the Society.
I will write again when I can.
